Project 365: Week 52

B got some headphones for Christmas which is almost like a gift for Mom and Dad too!

Project 365: Week 50

Our cable box is dunzo so we had to move B to the guest room for his evening tv time. Not a big deal….except that our DVR has like 20+ disney movies that I have to start storing all over again. Boo!

Barrett ate all his dinner so he got a treat after…..homemade peanut butter cookie.

I was trying to get Bubs as he turns on his humidifier because he usually sticks his tongue out while he does it. I wasn't fast enough tonight!

Snow started this afternoon so we played for a bit. We decided Barrett was getting one of his gifts early if we were going to play in the big stuff tomorrow.

Surprisingly, Barrett has very little interest in the tree now that it's up. He also hasn't touched the presents which really shocks me!

Bogey the Elf

2 years, 2 months old

I decided to go ahead and start the Elf tradition this year. We are not very strict about it but we have moved him every night and continue to find him every morning. We started off by reading the book on Dec 1 which seemed to be over most of Barrett's head.



Barrett doesn't care that Bogey is there to report to Santa and he doesn't care that he's not supposed to touch him. Most of the time, B doesn't touch him but if he does….oh well. He does enjoy looking for him every morning. Here are just a few examples of where Bogey has been hanging out.





Although Joe claims to not be into the whole thing, he has definitely helped relocate him. He actually does it way more than I do. It's a nice family activity we've included in our routine and is usually one the last things the 3 of us do before heading out the door.

And since I must get video of everything possible, here are a few boring clips of some of our mornings.









We won't be able to keep him going all the way to Christmas. Since we are never at our own house for Christmas morning, Santa makes a special trip to our house a few days early.

Bogey has been a fun addition to our Christmas holiday!

The Blankie

2 years, 2 months old

See that blanket?  That piece of fabric has been a source of contention, lately.  

Barrett is 2 so it probably goes without saying that he is opinionated.  He wants what he wants when he wants it.  It's probably even worse when he doesn't want something....like me to sing along to music in the car. ::MOMMY! STOP!::

Most mornings he clutches on to that blanket for all it's worth.  It doesn't leave the house for school and he knows that but it doesn't always mean he's okay with it.  I usually sneak it away while he's brushing his teeth or something so that he forgets about it.

This morning, however, his dad told him it was time to go bye bye and he took his blankie and said "here daddy" while willingly giving it up. 

It's quite sad but I've never been prouder!  (Of course, it will also never happen again so document we must.)

Barrett speak..

I'm hoping to make this a bit of a re-occuring post to jot down all of my favorite Barrett's phrases. His speech is insane these days. We can have full on conversations with him at times. He talks in full sentences. It's so much fun.

This morning, B started yelling for Daddy at 6:30am which is right on time for him. Neither of us were quite ready to get up for the day, so Joe brought him into bed with us to watch a little Chuggington. Joe sets him next to me and Barrett says..

B: Sit here by me, Daddy. (While he pats the bed next to him.) Good morning! Where dis duh remote? There dit is! Hi Mommy!

After a bit,

J: Barrett, do you want a banana?
B: Yeah.
J: Okay
B: (as he pushed dad out of bed) Go get it!

I need to get this on video but Bubs has a routine of saying Goodbye to people. "Byyyyyeee" "See ya later!" "Have fun" "Bye"

Recently, he has changed his See ya later to "Se ya La la la ter"

Barrett also has an app on his iPad that I forget the name of but it shows various flashcards and then when you click on it, the person says the name and spells it. An example: "School bus" S-C-H-O….etc spells School bus. Every time the narrater says "spells" Barrett thinks it means "smells" so he always takes a big whiff. It's hilarious for some reason.




He's so funny! He makes us laugh every day.

Halloween 2013

2 years, 1 month old

I can still recap Halloween a week late, right?

We had contemplated having Barrett be Rufio last year. Instead, he was gifted his dragon costume so I saved the idea for 2013. He still had no idea who this iconic character was and probably had more fun with it then he would have at age 1. Before B was born, so many people called him Baby Rufio so it was pretty much mandatory to dress him up as him at some point. I figure we may not have many years left where he will let us pick his outfit for him.



I ordered most of his outfit from Old Navy online but two days before Halloween I still hadn't received the shipping email and was a little worried so I hit up the store to see what they had. They didn't have the mega important red shoes but I found the black pants and black pullover along with a cool pair of black high tops. Of course, the next day a huge package showed up with the shoes, shirt and gray skinnies (which I ended up not using). Phew! I just had a few extra bonus pieces to add to his wardrobe. (Darn!)



We had planned on doing trick or treating in the Eastons subdivision, just like last year, so we went over there for some chili and candy. It was a rainy night so we didn't make it to any other houses but that was just fine with B. 1. He was at Jason's and 2. He still got to pass out a bunch of candy to other kids. Super awesome night in his book.

Project 365: Week 44
