Project 365: Week 27

B has been eating sooo well lately (knock on wood) so he got a popsicle treat after dinner. Add in watching Daddy mow and it's a jackpot night!

Our first hand at trying to cut Barrett's hair. His face will tell you how successful that was. The popsicle didn't make a difference in helping him sit still.

Front house remodel: Complete!

21 months old

And by complete, I mean sorta complete.

As a reminder, this was where we left off. As per my usual, I'll let the pictures do most of the talking.
exteriorprogress10

We had this lovely rusty strip on the top of our garage door. A scrub down and a few coats of tan spray paint and that is gone.
19 20

The trim part of the garage door was wood with really bad chipped paint. Painting it would have been an easy solution but Joe chose to get aluminum fitted to match the siding. This should be a more permanent solution rather than having to re-paint again in a few years.
17 18

The last step was replacing the weather stripping along the garage door and trim pieces to match the new tan color. This is what held up this update as we were waiting for it from Joe's supplier.
15 16

Joe took 2 separate afternoons to paint the garage door black.

I still have to paint the storm door but I'm having commitment issues on color so we'll get to that eventually. We also need to do something about that white mailbox that doesn't match anything anymore either. I want to add edging and some simple landscaping on the left side of the garage door. Will also need a bunch of pots of flowers on the patio and a flower bed around the mailbox. Can't forget actually landscaping the center bed. And replacing the roof…

Oh the joys of home remodels. Wouldn't want it any other way.

Fish

20 months old

Barrett is a huge fan of the water. This crazy summer weather has made it hard to get in the pool much until recently though. Last Sunday was a hot one so we got to spend a little time in the pool with friends.

I played golf that morning and B woke up from a nap shortly after I got home and was welcomed by a big group of people. The Maschings and Callum, Uncle Eric & Aunt Allyson, Uncle Andy & Aunt Rachel and Jake all came over. I don't think B was quite ready for all the excitement, and add in a scare from crazy Jake and Barrett was "no no no" about all things swimming. To put it lightly, B was beside himself with tears and fear.

Eventually, everyone left and scary Jake was able to get a "Bye" out of buddy.

Then he was ready for the water!
7273

He is very into jumping off things right now so jumping into the pool was right up his alley. He's been really good about not getting too close to the water and will not jump in unless he's holding someone hands. I don't think this will last very long. He just needs a little more confidence (and one time to do it by himself) and I'm sure he'll be catapulting into the water.
7475

He has no problem with going under water. If you ask him if he wants to, he usually answers "Yes." We're working on keeping his mouth shut though.
7677

I got him a puddle jumper to wear a few weeks ago and he hated that thing. It fit him incorrectly which I'm sure was the problem so I need to look into getting him a better one. Someone's always with him so it's not a huge deal that he doesn't have anything but it would be nice to give him a little more independence.

A few things we're working on is getting him to kick his feet better. He much prefers it when others just move him around for him. He also hates to float on his back which I'm trying to teach him. He's slowly getting better. Just like with regular stairs, he could walk up and down the pool stairs all day long.

We'll hopefully get a bunch more water time before we wrap up the summer.

Barrett's new favorite thing is washing his hands. He runs to the sink after dinner.

Uncle Nate got B a whole box of new toys that he loves to stack and destroy!

We had burgers for dinner and Bubs got his own little mini slider. He's not always a big fan but he gobbled it up.

We match!

B loves it when I move all the dining room chairs to vacuum. He can't run under it anymore without hitting his head though!

We got a little bit of pool time in today. Kid is going through some separation anxiety it seems, so he made me actually sit in the pool while he played. I was in my clothes.

We played at the park for a while this morning. It was pretty wet from the rain which bothered Mom more than Barrett.
