Our holiday weekends are usually extra busy and this one was no exception. We traveled up north to Pontiac on Wednesday night and will be staying until this afternoon. All four days were full of activities which I love.
We started Wednesday night with a trip to wing night at the club once we got into town. Joe's been wanting to go forever but since we are never in town on Wednesdays, it hasn't happened. Barrett slept the entire drive up so when we got in town at 6:30 (his normal bed time), he was raring to go. There were a 100+ people there because the $ money drawing is up to $25,000. No such luck on us winning the money (no one won) but B loved all the people watching. He's such an excellent kid around crowds and I'm trying to breathe that in because I'm sure it won't last forever.
Thursday was a relatively easy holiday compared to some of our others. We had lunch at the Pulliams, like always, with Grandma Rita's family. Little man took some time to get used to the place but then absolutely ate up all the attention. He became a dancing fool and ate his weight in food. We finished up there about 3:30 and B was cashed. He fell asleep on the way home and slept until I woke him at 5:30. We were having dinner with my family at my parents so it was an easy transition. We pushed him later again and he managed to stay up until almost 8:30. Cousin Paige even read him his bed time story.
Friday was our laid back day. We hung out around the house and then after lunch, my dad took Barrett to the pool. I snuck out to do some shopping at Charmed Boutique (go there if you haven't!) and then got prepped for Friendsgiving that night. If I calculated this correctly, this was our 9th annual. We've certainly lost and gained members and things have changed but this still remains mostly the same. Based on the very little pictures I took, you can see that the kids are the main attractions.
Blythe's little pouty lip is the cutest things in the world.
I set it up so Grandma and Grandpa E would pick up B after dinner so we could stay and enjoy our night. Much needed. Adult conversation without having to wrangle a toddler is the best gift and we even stayed out till just past midnight. (A far cry from the 9pm bed time we've been having.)
I found out the next morning that my parents didn't have as good an evening as we did. Barrett went to sleep fine but woke up after 30 minutes crying. If someone gets him out of bed, there is no going back for a long time and it took a few hours (11:30!) before he succumbed. Yikes! I should have known when it was 8am and Joe, Barrett and I were still sleeping.
Needless to say, Buddy was an emotional mess for most of Saturday. His routine was off and he was crabby about everything. We probably pushed him a bit too much the previous days. Even though he was cranky, I still managed to sneak away to see this kid!
Only to leave again a little while later for Lindsay's last bridal shower.
Hayden got Lindsay a princess bag because she gets to be princess for a day at the wedding.
I got back to my parents to find Joe making Christmas cookies and Barrett taking a much needed nap. He slept and slept and slept. 3 hours later, we woke him to eat dinner and he was like a new kid! Another 8:30 bed time though on Saturday means that we are going to have our work cut out for us once we get back home and into our normal routine.
Today, we have one last Thanksgiving with the Tissiere side of the fam and then we are hoping to make it back home at a decent hour. Good times with great people is the best part about the holidays.
