Like I said last month, the tie stickers are all gone. We've reached the non-stop moving stage so it is hard enough catching pictures on the fly, let alone ones where I need him to sit still. My solution? Reuse pictures from Instagram. If you already follow me, then you get to see them twice. If you don't follow me, I'm TarynTiss. Add me so I can follow you! :)
We'll start like always in the sleep category. It seems that every month things stay consistently good with a time period of random bad sleep. Last week, we had a few nights in a row of 3-4 wake ups in the middle of the night where he just wanted to cuddle and rock. (I blame teething.) It was so weird of him because he's basically never been rocked to sleep. I'd pick him up and he'd practically already be asleep on my shoulder but the second I put him down, he was screaming again. While those periods of time are not the best, we survive. I'm incredibly thankful that Joe is up at 4 so if it's even close to that time in the night, he handles it until he leaves for work at 6:15. In regards to naps, he's a rock star. We've never gotten many long stretches (an hr and 15 minutes is amazing!) but he goes down like clockwork. His morning nap starts 3 hours after he's woken up for the day and his afternoon nap starts 3 hours after he wakes from his morning nap. Simple as that. If we stick to that schedule, I can lay him down and he's good to go. Never fights it....well, besides the occasional nap when we are at Grandpa and Grandma E's. He knows there are way more fun things he can be doing than napping there though. The key has been to have a routine and white noise. Our humidifier and box fan get their fair share of use.

Daylight savings hit this last week. It affected him but could have been much worse. He's been up early every day and the first night he went to bed at 5:30 as opposed to 6:30. We've managed to keep bed time like normal otherwise so hopefully he will start to adjust soon enough. Like I said, I'm lucky because even if he wakes up at 5am, Joe deals with it. :) I even got to sleep until 7:30 on Sunday morning after the clocks were changed.
Food category is not a big change. He occasionally busts out a picky streak where he won't eat something that he usually loves but overall, any and all food makes him happy. He is a bottomless pit sometimes. His very favorites are blueberries, pizza, string cheese, bread, greek yogurt, and bananas. Lots of carbs. :) Unfortunately, we've not quite eliminated the bottle. That darn morning bottle is proving to be a bear. Barrett just doesn't seem to be ready to give it up. We'll maybe I'm not ready to fight him on it yet. I'm determined to have them gone in a few weeks though. Hopefully after everything is adjusted with daylight savings and he's not waking at 5am. We certainly deserve to have it tough on this since he's made things mostly easy on us for the last 8 or so months. He takes a sippy of milk or water, otherwise. Along with that, one of his favorite things to do is throw his cups. At first, it was a developmental thing, now it's turning into a game so if he throws it, he doesn't get it back. He also loves drinking out of real cups.

Developmentally speaking, Barrett is making some fun strides. He is signing "More" regularly. It's really cute because sometimes it's more of a clapping motion and other times he cups one hand and touches the flat part of his palm on the other hand. Not perfect but he deliberately makes those motions so I know that he knows what it is. Very very cool to watch. I'm bad with using any other signs very regularly so we'll see if he picks up any other ones. I can't remember if I mentioned this last month but he's waving when we say "bye bye" and he puts his hand, or the object he's holding, up to his ear when we say "hi" (like he's talking on the phone).

Barrett is a very expressive kid. He's constantly chatting away. Still not saying many real words, I don't think, but lots of mama, dada, & baba. He says stuff but not enough at a regular rate that I'm considering them words. When we play, we try to speak the words for everything and we talk to him constantly so he'll pick them up eventually. Now, he just has his own made up language.

On his birthday, B got his very first haircut. He sat really well for the most part and looked so grown up. He now has 1 tooth on the bottom right side with the 4 top middle teeth still making their way through. I can already tell that things are coming in jacked up so hopefully they can correct themselves. Along with his new teeth, Bubs gets to brush them. So far, he loves it if he is the one doing the work. This mostly means he likes to suck on the bristles. I forsee a few tantrums in our near future when we take that brush away.

Now that he is a walking and running pro, kiddo has taken after his dads daredevil streak and climbs. Stairs were one thing but now it's just about anything he can reach. The fireplace, dishwasher, baskets, into boxes, whatever.

Finally, I have to mention my three favorite Barrett quirks for this month.
The first being his love of getting chased and/or hiding. Joe and he will do laps and laps around our great room and the two of them will just squeal while Barrett gets chased. He loves it. I may love it more.
Secondly is his love of music. Not only is it songs that he loves, but any type of music. The toys that play an instrumental piece get the biggest grin out of him. Along with that he has his own rendition of a dance. As soon as the music starts, he stop and puts his right arm up (like in the raise the roof position) and bends his knees over and over. He sits for ever and plays with this ABC book that plays the melody of the song with each page turn.
Dance move: Exhibit A (You can see each time music starts that he raises his right hand. Strangely, he clasps his hands which he's only ever done during this video, but you get the idea.)
Lastly, I love the way he sticks his tongue out when he's happy or excited or trying to be sneaky. If he's concentrating on something, it will most certainly make an appearance. I can't get enough of it.
This month, we've certainly had some trying moments. His teachers call him a "highly emotional" kid which is him to a T. He wants what he want and makes that known. With all that though, I'd take him ten times over. He's the bestest.
