11 month movie

11 months, 21 days old

It's ironic that I'm just now finishing this when I'm already practically done with his year movie but at least it's done. The last of his month movies.

I'm not sure if we would classify this as separation anxiety (what is the exact definition anyway?) but Barrett wants to be held almost non-stop lately.

Can this be?

11 months, 14 days old

We completed a project, you guys. I'm just as shocked as you are but don't worry we still have many uncompleted ones to keep us procrastinating. Joe installed the new door in our kitchen around March 20 so if you are keeping track that means it took 6 months to finish it. It has been functional all this time, it just had no trim or casing and insulation was hanging out from where we cut into the wall to insert the door. I finally had enough because Barrett would be-line it to that area whenever he was left unattended and then he cried because he just wanted to play with it and that made me want to pull my hair out. Not a good combination so it had to go.

Let's start at the very beginning from before we moved in.
03

Then after we painted and cleaned everything up.
132

After 6 months with no good access to the backyard, we built the deck and installed the door. And here it stayed for another 6 months.
062

The final result! You may notice that there is a new light switch to the right of the door that wasn't there before. The exterior part of our main level did not have any electrical or lighting so Joe ran some more wires and added the light switch. We now have a spot for an exterior light on the deck. (I just need to pick one out.)

Good morning, baby!

This picture captures one of my favorite Barrett traits. When he's crawling, he picks up his arms really high and then slams them down. It's almost like a slow motion and how I picture Godzilla when he's stomping through a city.

09-12-12
09-12-12web
Another one of Bubs quirks is how he stands in between our legs when we are busy doing something and he wants to be picked up. It's funny but so annoying, too.

Little Man is obsessed with hats. If Joe is wearing a hat straight forward, he freaks out with happiness. When Joe turns it around backwards, this is him....completely stoneface.

Sick of these yet?

B found some spare lumber sitting on the deck and was whipping it around like a sword. I was shocked he could even pick it up.

Tidbits

11 months, 10 days old

Barrett loves himself a door these days. Opening and closing, pounding on the glass, sliding them or even feeling the screens will keep him entertained for a very long time. Unfortunately, he wants someone sitting next to him when he does this so it's a good thing I can sit and watch him do nothing all day (as long as he's not whining!).

010 012

One week until the Carls/Brazel wedding in Chi-town! I'm very excited because it will be our first overnight sans baby. We have left him at night many times but he's never woken up and not had us there (well me there. Joe has done it a bunch of times.) He usually lets us get full nights of sleep but we always have to be "on" as soon as Barrett decides he's up for the day so it will be nice to do our own thing. He'll be spending the whole day with Grandma and Grandpa E on Saturday and most of the morning on Sunday. I'm definitely going to miss him but I'm not nervous or anything about leaving him. And I know the time will fly by.

This weekend has been kick butt in terms of getting our To-Do list done. I slept in a bit yesterday(7:30), but I pretty much was moving non-stop until 9pm. Joe and I tagged teamed the whole day to keep Bubs entertained so we were able to get some things done. We got all our normal cleaning done (bathrooms, laundry, dusting, vaccuuming) as well as a ton of other house projects. Joe was able to install the casing and trim around the sliding door in our kitchen (yes, that same door we installed in March). I swept the deck, hosed down the front porch, touched up paint, washed windows and glass doors. All that fun stuff you don't have much time for. I ended the night completely overhauling our garage. It was disgusting. We never got it done when we first moved in, and then B came and we had many other important things to accomplish. So yes, a year later, it's finally clean. Exhibit A:

Joe still needs to straighten is tool bench and we have to get rid of the leftover ugly tile the previous owners left us, but it's 100% better. A shower never felt so good after that was done.

Toy storage

11 months, 8 days old

Pre-baby, I was one of those people who wanted to have a home that could be de-kid-ified. Big plastic toys be gone!

Let's be real. This is what we normally deal with.
016

But I've done pretty well in managing the mess.
017

Two wicker baskets, one storage ottoman and 2 minutes of picking up is all it takes. Bonus: Everything is at his reach so he can get to whatever he wants, whenever he wants. If you have a toddler, you know this is key!

Callum

11 months, 6 days old

Let's preface this by saying that photography is purely a fun hobby for me. If you ask me to take pictures, I will emphatically say yes. I'll jump on any chance I can get to practice. And if you don't ask me, I'll likely take pictures anyway because I never leave home without my camera.

Joe got me my camera for our first anniversary 3 1/2 years ago and I completely immersed myself in learning everything I could. I feel like I have so much more to learn so I still read, read, read and study everything I can. Joe has a love/hate relationship with it, I think. I know that he loves following along with my photos but he hates it because it's pretty time consuming. I probably spend 2 hours a day doing something with pictures. Either uploading, organizing, editing, re-editing, or backing them up on top of just taking them. But I love it.

Enough jibber jabber, let's get to the real reason for this post. A few weeks ago, I got to take pictures of fresh baby Cal. They might look peaceful and serene but it was pretty comical at times. We interrupted his sleeping and eating two different days to get some shots. He is perfection.

Barrett is very much obsessed with the window cranks that open windows. I was able to make my lunch this morning before he noticed I had even left. And then I caught this.

Little man loves to sit on his walker turned car and play with the gadgets. He takes a break from opening the bin to bounce up and down a few times before he goes back. (Don't mind the banner. It is not a normal decor item in the living room. I've been preping for the birthday party.)
