Holland is 2 weeks old!

2 weeks, 2 days old, Barrett is 3 1/2 years old

What a fast two weeks! They all are fast but these early ones sure go extra fast. Holland was born at 7 lbs, 7 oz and left the hospital at 2 days old weighing 6 lbs, 13 oz as my milk hadn't come in yet. It was very quickly that it arrived though and an oversupply to boot. She weighed 7 lbs, 4 oz at our doctor appt when she was 8 days old so steadily tanking on the pounds. We do not go back to the doctor until the 1 month well check but I would imagine she has hit her birth weight now. She still seems like a little peanut although I can tell she is getting bigger.

She is a fantastic baby. Hold her and she is especially happy. Sleep has been going pretty well. She goes to bed between 10-11pm, almost always wakes up around 3am, 6am and then "up" for the day about 9am. She goes about 3 hours between feedings except for a bit longer that first stretch at night. Thank you, Sister! I'm not a night owl so I wished she would go to sleep a little earlier but that evening stretch is her long awake time. And of course, she wants to be held. Not a problem. She sleeps the day away as well but prefers to be held during those hours, too. See a pattern? :) I've become a pro at feeding her while doing other things at the same time.

Holland is an efficient eater. She only takes about 15 minutes total to get what she needs. Most of our night feeds are even quicker because she prefers to eat on only one side. This means I pump on the other but that is okay too. I already have over 60oz in the freezer. She has gotten a handful of bottles and takes anywhere from 2-3 oz at a time.

Missy fits in newborn sizes really well. I tried a few 3 month or 0-3 month onsies and while they work, they are pretty baggy. She is a shorty so newborn pants will be around for a while. She is still in newborn size diapers but we are about out of our stash so we may move to 1's soon. At night, she sleeps in the rock n play by our bed and that thing is worth it's weight in gold. Barrett was a swing boy but she doesn't care for that too much. She is happy to lay on the floor in small increments.

Barrett is pretty indifferent about her still. He doesn't really even acknowledge that she is there. Occasionally he asks what his baby sister is doing and he says she's cute randomly but they don't interact all that often. She is too boring for him. He has held her a few times and that is good enough. There is no reason to push so I leave them be. He gets enough people all up in his face asking him questions about his sister so I don't need to be one of them.

Overall, she is the best baby. She slept through her first trip to Target and does wonderful in the car for now. The noise and movement seem to lull her to sleep and we hope that continues for as much as we travel. I cannot wait to watch her grow but am taking advantage of itty bitty while I still can.

Holland Jo

Holland made her appearance on Monday, March 23rd at 7:35pm with lots of hair and looking identical to her big brother. Full birth plan coming eventually but let's start with a few pictures.

Big brother was our first hospital visitor.
