Happy 2 Months!

2 months old

I'm gonna get the bad(ish) stuff out of the way first.

Sleep: My great little sleeper during that first month of life is well.....::yawn::.....gone. I shouldn't say he's gone but that he visits rarely. I've brought some of it on myself (yes, I admit it) but he is pretty spoiled and our sleep is taking the toll. With the Thanksgiving holiday happening this month, he and I spent 10 days at my parents house. Two things: he was triple spoiled and he had no routine. I was running around visiting people and doing things so he was forced to follow along. Thankfully, he is a rockstar traveler. He goes with the flow so well when we are on the move and it's one of the best things we could get in a baby because we have very busy schedules and rarely stay at home.

Anyways, he's spoiled. He has lots of grandparents and aunts and uncles and makeshift aunts and uncles who like to hold and cuddle and play with him. This meant that Mom and Dad were in for a treat after going back to our boring home after all that attention.

So after that trip, it's been an adjustment on sleep. He's slept 5 hours straight three times in his short lifespan and our low point was a few nights ago when he woke up every hour and essentially spent the night attached to me eating. Thank you growth spurt. It's amazing how I can adjust though. 2 1/2 hour stretches are the average at this point and that I can handle. He eats and goes back to bed. Easy peasy. My schedule has adapted and it's nothing anymore to get up a few times a night. Although, once an hour is NOT COOL. (You hear that, B?)

Enough about that, let's get to the fun stuff.

His likes are still the changing pad. So.many.smiles. The only time he cries and fusses on that thing is when he's really unhappy. Also, we put up the Christmas tree last week and he is Uhb.sessed. He'll stare and stare and stare at those lights, although I shouldn't be surprised as our main light in the living room has been an obsession for quite a while.

Sure fire way to get a smile? Picture frames. Again, he's obsessed. My parents have an entire wall of pictures in their living room and every morning, we would sit on the couch while he kicked and cooed at them. He's also loving exhaust fans these days. I know babies love the white noise and it's amazing how it can calm him so quickly. I had him nap in his bouncer the other day in the kitchen while the fan went because it kept him asleep. Whatever works!

009

I mentioned a few posts ago that he loves his playmat and he also LOVES his swing. Or should I say Mom loves his swing. He naps in that thing daily. I would pay triple the price to have it. And thank goodness ours plugs into the wall because we'd have to buy stock in batteries if it didn't. Speaking of naps, we started the transition to his crib. He napped in it successfully on Saturday but until he shows longer stretches at night, I'm holding off a bit to move him in there permanently. At this point, he still sleeps in the bassinet next to our bed at night (or with me in bed while dad sleeps on the couch. THE HORROR!). Let's hope for a good update on this topic come the next birthday month.

What else? Tummy time is still a work in progress. He tolerates it for small periods of time. No rolls yet but I'm not in a big hurry. He'll do it eventually. Kicking, cooing and squeaks are frequent around here, as well. He is not at all interested in grasping at rattles yet but will hold on to fingers like no other. He certainly likes the noise of rattles though. He's so serious looking when you shake them in his face.

Doctor appointment is scheduled in a few days so we'll see how much he's grown. I think we have a 12 pounder on our hands!

  1. Take a picture documenting his little hairs on the back of his head! I love his fuzz.

  2. He is just painfully adorable. How do you get anything done? (-: I can't believe he's 2 months already, time flies! Merry Christmas, Taryn!
