3/4th down, 1/4 to go. Time is moving at lightning speed these days. I cannot get over how big Barrett is getting. We saw an itty bitty baby at the store the other day and I hardly remember him like that!
Sleep: This month has put a kink in our sleep schedule. We spent 13 out of 30 nights not at home this month so needless to say, our routine was changed. About 2 weeks ago, B also started waking up throughout the night and some nights every 2 hours (like he was a newborn again!). His naps were very sporatic and our easy sleeper has started fighting it. This is just not him so off to the doctor we went for an ear check. To celebrate his 9 month birthday, Little Man was diagnosed with yet another ear infection! Two days into his antibiotics and we have seen a huge improvement. He's taken 2 hour morning and afternoon naps and slept almost normal at night. Thank goodness!
Food: This category is a bit different this month as well. Bubs still loves food. He could live on puffs alone for sure. Although, one day he loves one thing and the next he doesn't want to touch it. I knew this stage would come but I thought I had some more time. Big likes are grapes, turkey, laughing cow cheese rolled with cherrio crumbs, raspberries, greek yogurt, chili beans and mangos. I'm pretty sure that he will hate these tomorrow now. He is slowly reducing his formula intake after all the real food. 4 oz bottles 5 times a day is average. He has really started to take to his sippy cup as well. He still plays with it but he will digest a large amount as well. It's so crazy that he can do so much on his own now when it seems like yesterday, we were excited that he could just grip his toys. It's amazing how fast they learn.
I have an update on his size since we were in the doctor a few days ago. He's coming in at a solid 19 pounds, 7 ounces. When he was a newborn, I thought it would take forever to make it to 20 pounds but it looks like he'll be there sooner than later. Barrett goes back for his 9 month well check and shots in 3 weeks so we'll find out his height and head circumference. (I'd imagine his big melon is still in the 90th%.) Have I mentioned that he is still toothless? Yes, no teeth. His mood is not awful yet so who knows when they are coming in. I'm afraid it's going to be all at once though.
Some newfound skills for the chunky boy is standing. So.much.standing. He wants to be on his feet at all times. I think we spent on hour on the floor today while I laid down and he would go from sitting to standing to sitting to standing and using me as leverage. He thinks it's particularly great to stand up by the coffee table and suck on the edge. Gross. Things he's not doing is crawling. He is being such a wimp. He hates being on his stomach and gets so mad (So.Mad.) that he cannot move. Barrett will get up on all fours and rock and rock but then give up and lay back on his stomach. He does manage to go anywhere he wants to by various rolling, shifting, scooting. We're all baby proofed for him.
Some current likes include banging things together. The blocks that come with his shape sorter is perfect for this. If he's not banging them together, he's banging them on something else. He also thought it was particularly great to slap my thigh so it shook while we were reading books the other night. Such the comedian. A new toy we busted out this month was his music table. He loves it especially since he can stand and play. The table has balls that you can spin around or shoot down this slide which he loves. He must think it tastes good too because he loves to chew on it.
B pretty much loves being "out." If he is anywhere with other people, he is so laidback and chill. If he's just with us or a small number of people, he is needy and wants constant attention. Taking him to the grocery store, Target, anywhere for that matter is better than staying at home. I am so thankful that he loves to go out to dinner as well. I hope he always likes to be out and around others.
I can't believe he's grown so fast.
