I haven't been good about documenting his monthly stats so I wanted to get them all down here before I forget. B started off a bit of a pipsqueak and has gradually gained on a nice curve (mostly). He has jumped up quite a bit since starting solids. He is definitely "average" for a kiddo his age. For those who haven't been around kids statistics, they compare based on data compiled from other kids of that age. 50% means he is right in the middle of that curve and thus average. 50% of the kids his age are smaller than him, and 50% are bigger than him. If he was in the 10%, that means 90% of the kids his age would be bigger than him. 80% means 20% are bigger than him and so on...
Our pediatrician (and myself) has never been too concerned about the %. As long as he is staying consistent and growing, it doesn't matter if the kid is in the 2% or the 99%. It doesn't mean that that child is too small or too fat. Someone has to be in that 2% or 99% or we all would be average. These stats are based on each of his well visits. We've been a few more times in between these for sick visits but I won't be documenting those.
Birth: 7 lbs, 11 oz
1 week: 7 lbs, 6 oz (15%)
1 month: 8 lbs, 14 oz (16%)
2 months: 11 lbs, 9oz (20%)
4 months: 13 lbs, 8 oz (10%)
6 months: 15 lbs, 10 oz (25%)
9 months: 20lbs, 4 oz (54%) This was taken when he was 9 months, 3 weeks old so the data is a bit skewed.
And a bonus picture of B with his favorite toy of the moment.
