It snowed!

1 year, 4 months, 23 days old

At 16 months old, Barrett finally got to experience snow. I don't think we got more than a dusting last year and even then, he was itty bitty and snow was not something he would have partook in regardless. January brought an ice day but again not anything worth it. Last Thursday, the forecast was right and we managed to get 5-6 inches. I left work early on Thursday when we got about an inch in 20 minutes time. My normal 15 minute commute became an hour. Regardless of the snow, it was pleasant outside. The kind of snow that I like. I bundled up Barrett and he got to play in the driveway while I shoveled. I wish Joe was home because it was perfect out. Not really windy, snow was soft and fluffy. Buddy didn't know what was happening. He kept walking from inside the garage out into the snowy driveway and back. We only lasted about 10 minutes because he kept walking down the hill to the backyard while I was still shoveling.

Friday ended up being a snow day because daycare was closed so he and I had a chill day in. Joe brought a sled home from work but it was a bit late so we made plans to go back out on Saturday.

Saturday was another really nice morning and we bundled up to get our sled on. It was almost like Barrett knew what was happening because he grabbed his clothes and shoes and sat down to put them on himself. Lately, I've had to practically tackle him to get dressed. He stood at the door and smiled for me too!

We got some sleet/rain on Friday so the snow was pretty crunchy. Barrett didn't weigh enough to even make a dent so it was more like an ice rink for him.

Another perk of our yard is that we have a built in hill to sled and Joe and Barrett took the very first trip down right away. The pictures speak for themselves on what the little man thought about it.

He is usually very good about showing his emotions and this was basically no emotion. It seemed that the noise the sled was making was of concern for him.
"Mom, what are you doing to me?"

He couldn't pass up a taste of the weird white stuff, though.

Not even Dad pulling him around could get a reaction from him.

And with that….inside we go.
