Holland is 4 months old!

Another month down at the speed of light.

Holland had her 4 month doctor visit a few days after her month day and she came in weighing 13 lbs, 8 oz which is 39th%. She is very average but man, does she look like a little chunkier with her cheeks. She is still rockin the thigh rolls, too! We will be moving to mostly 6 month size stuff here very soon and have for some things already. Of course, most of those size stuff that I've already purchased are for fall items so I need to get more summer stuff. Oh darn! I figure we will get another 2 months out of those sizes and it will be good for when we go to Florida in October, as well. She is in size 2 diapers but I don't think they will last much longer.

Sleep this month has made a slight change in that she is going smaller stretches at night. That darn 4 month wakeful! It's not awful and usually about every 3-4 hours. She was easily going 6 and then stretches of 3 but that doesn't happen near as often anymore. We cannot manage to get her to move her bedtime earlier so she usually goes down between 8-9pm. No matter what, we treat it as still nighttime for the next 12 hours. So if we get lucky and she goes down at 7:30, she stays in her bed for the next 12 hours. If she goes to bed at 9pm, then she doesn't wake up until 9am. She takes 3 or 4 naps during the day. The morning nap is about 1 hour, early afternoon nap is about 2 hours and then late afternoon nap is another hour. Depending on how long she slept throughout the day will determine if she takes another nap in the evening. This nap lasts maybe 30 minutes but no matter what we do, she will not stay asleep for the night.

Her night time wake ups are only about 12-15 minutes long. Just enough for her to eat on one side, diaper change and eat on the other. She will either fall asleep while eating or I can put her to bed awake and she will drift off on her own. A complete change from her brother is that she is still not in my bed. She's only done that about 5 times ever. She needs her own room, bed and very loud white noise and she is good to go on her own.

Eating is absolutely no change. She eats on both sides every 3 hours. Occasionally, she pushes closer to 4 hours and certainly has no problem doing that when we are out of the house or she has activity keeping her entertained. Bottles are still a struggle. We got the go-ahead to start solids but I don't plan to do that for a little while longer. We started Barrett at 5 1/2 months and will probably stick close to that. She is very interested in watching us eat so I think it will go okay. It's just one less thing I need to worry about yet.

Holland is getting more of her voice this month. She squeals and coos and talks to you when you are talking to her. She is very laid-back with her emotions though. We have a hard time finding her tickle spot. She is just so chill. Big laughs are hard to come by but they are so awesome when she does give them to us.

08

I don't think she is teething yet but she has her hands and fingers in her mouth 24/7. She is a slobber machine too. Sister kicks butt at tummy time lately. She is very happy to hang out on her stomach and kick and push up some. She loves her playmat both for laying on her back and tummy. She is a big fan of the tv and anything with lots of colors. We've busted out the bumbo and she tolerates it much more than her brother ever did. She will play with a few teether toys and can transfer them from one hand to the other. Her A&A blankets are a very favorite. We never leave home without one. She loves to chew on them and she hugs it tightly while she sleeps. I need to order a few more to add to our collection so I don't have to worry about keeping up with laundry so much.

06

We take her outside as much as possible during the day and she is so content to chill out on a blanket in the yard under a shady tree and watch her brother and I play around. Wind in her face is the best! She had a slight reaction to her 4 month shots which made her cranky at first but then gave us 2 solid days of wonderful sleep. Fighting off disease can be hard work!

She really is just the most content little lady! We can't get enough of her!
