This will be my last post of the first trimester! Wowza!

This week I am hungry! The newest phase of my pregnancy has been the need for food. I'm still only able to eat smaller meals but it seems that my stomach wants something every two hours. I've stocked up on snacks to keep in my office and try to eat an earlier breakfast than I normally do which so far seems to be helping. Otherwise, business as usual. Still a bit sleepy, no nausea, clothes still fitting okay.
New development this week is obsessive mode when it comes to nursery planning. This might not surprise some of you that I have a Word document with links and bullet points as well as bookmarked pages on my laptop with ideas. I'm not even sure we will have a designated baby room (Did I mention we are building a house that hasn't been started yet?) but I'm still fantasizing. We are going to go fairly gender neutral with some variations depending on the sex of the baby. More on this later.

Baby time!

We are now up to the size of a plum. The most dramatic development this week is reflexes. Baby can now open and close his/her fingers, wiggle toes, and the mouth can make sucking movements. It seems that if I poke my stomach, the baby will flinch in response. I obviously can't feel it yet though. This makes sense since anytime the sonogram would move positions, the baby would jump on the monitor. Last week, the emails mentioned that the babies head was approximately the same size as the body. As of this week, the head has started to slow down it's growth so that the rest of the body can catch up. Thank goodness!! After this week, the body systems will be fully formed.
I'm late in adding this since it actually happened during week 11 but I wanted to make sure I documented this.
