We've arrived at the big ONE. Good news (or maybe not so good news), this won't be my last update. I plan on continuing them monthly for another year, then we'll see how it goes from there. Although sticker pictures are officially dunzo! No way can I get the kid to sit still and cooperate with his tie so I'll have to come up with something else. Now onto Barrett...

Sleep: I always start here and this one is going to be short. B is consistently going 12 hours straight 6 nights a week and even more than 12 hours on occasion. Dude can rock it out! We did have a random bad bedtime this week where it was 8:45 and he was still up but those are few and far between. I couldn't ask for anything more which is a far cry from being 5 months old and never sleeping more than 5 hours straight.

Food: I'd say the only major change from this month is that we are ditching the formula and bottles. I had decided to try to go completely cold turkey when it comes to both formula and bottles. I didn't want to transfer formula to sippies to get rid of bottles and then later have to wean off the formula. Might as well go commando and do it all at once! We stopped his night time bottle about a week and a half ago and he didn't even notice. It's been a while that he's barely drinking anything after he's filled up with dinner so I knew that wouldn't be bad. Last weekend while we were home, we substituted a sippy of whole cows milk for his bottle. Again, didn't really phase him. I kept 2 bottles in the rotation because I wanted to still make sure he was getting enough before completely dropping them. Daycare has been very helpful as well. He is off with Dad tomorrow for Columbus Day and by Tuesday, we hope to be completely rid of formula and bottles. I cannot wait for the day to come!

Bubs still mounds down on normal people food. He likes to eat his favorite item first and work his way to his least favorite but he almost always finishes whats in front of him. He is picky about having too many choices at once so I try to give him a few options and then when he finishes that, give him another option. He's a freaking messy eater though, that's for sure!

Size: Barrett is easily in 12 month clothes and I've started buying 18 months so that it will last him through the winter. Mr. Fat Feet is in a size 4 shoe if they are extra wide but needs a 5 in regular. We had a few pairs of super cute shoes that we got as gifts and he hardly was able to wear them because his feet are so wide. We just moved him to Size 4 diapers. He's growing so fast!

We had our first real accident just last week when B had a spill down our deck stairs. It's a bit of a long story but needless to say both Mom and Dad were not careful and our curious boy did a forward facing trust fall down half the flight of steps. The kid had two pretty nice size goose eggs on his forehead and some scratches on his cheek. He barely cried. He was just excited to be outside and get to the swing set. Joe is scarred for life and gave me the silent treatment for a long long time. Little does he know that this will likely happen many times over if Barrett is anything like his father. (Did I mention that Joe had stitches 7 times before the age of 13?)

Separation anxiety is upon us for Bubs. The best word to describe him is Clingy. He wants someone basically touching him at all times. If I put him down to load the dishwasher, make dinner, pee? It's like the end of the world. He has thrown a few tantrums even as a result. He doesn't seem to have a clear favorite as to who he wants to be near. Although, he does run up to Miss Tricia, the head teacher in his class, as opposed to the others. I'm so thankful that he has not shown a single sign of anxiety when I leave him at school, though. His bestie, Ava, is always there and runs up to him the second we walk in. She's older than he is but teeny and it's cute to watch them interact. I wouldn't say they really play together but they just kind of follow each other around.

Barrett has some interesting quirks this month that I have to document. He loves carrying clothes or blankets around and whiping them around, trying to throw them. He also does the fish face all the time. He's started waving bye bye when people leave and claps anytime someone says YAY. Both result in big ol smiles! Lastly, little man loves to spit. Oh yes, spit. Water, milk, food, saliva...all items that he will spit. It's the hardest thing to not laugh because it really is funny but then it becomes a game.
This month he has developed such a personality. He makes us laugh non-stop. Happy Birthday, buddy!
