Lindsay's Bachelorette Day!

14 months old

Lindsay had picked for everyone to converge in good ol' Effingham for her bachelorette festivities. Adelle, Allyson, Danni, Kelley, Sara and myself all met up at her house this past Saturday morning. Our first activity of the day was an art class through Stang Arts which is in downtown Effingham. Jamie teaches many different types of classes for little kids all the way to seniors. We arrived just as she was finishing sketching our beach scene. The place was pretty cool. Eclectic and funky but really fun.

To start, we loaded up on food and sangria while Jamie got our paints ready to go. Then our first task was to take our permanent marker and trace the scene.

Jamie was a fantastic teacher. She instructed us on what to do but made sure to let us Type A's know that this was Art and to let loose. Nothing we could do would be "wrong". The first step was to take our orange, yellow and red and blend in the skies sunset. She explained this as being the foundation you put on with makeup. Eventually, we will build to it like we do with blush or eye shadow or mascara.

After a handful of steps and lots of freaking out, we all managed to complete our paintings. The painting itself was a lot harder than I thought. It was not easy to do what we were supposed to and have it look good. However, in a different way it was easier than I thought it would be. The process was do-able. The time flew by and Jamie did great giving us step by step instructions.

This was my final piece. Jamie "helped" me quite liberally in parts but I think it turned out cool!

I'd love to do something like this again. I think pretty much everyone had a really fun time!

Afterwards, a bunch of us went back to Lindsays and hung out for a while. Opened gifts, chatted, munched on some food and got ready for our night out. We had a mostly chill evening. We went to the really nice winery in town, Tuscan Hills, and to dinner at Gabby Goat. The food was super yummy. We went out for a few more drinks afterwards and then had a relatively early night in back to Lindsay's. We all comfy-ed up and chatted for a few more hours. I slept like a log and was the first to wake at 7:30! It's sad when that is sleeping in! We packed up shortly after and I was able to make it home just before Barrett's morning nap was ending. It was a fantastic time!

Now I just need to get to writing that speech. 4 weeks to go!
