Our first task was to remove all the cabinets and hardware. I'm so grateful for Joe's electric drill thing because it took a matter of about 15 minutes and almost zero physical energy to remove all the hinges and handles. He had the kitchen ready to go in practically no time. That first night of work, we (well, just Joe, because he didn't trust me) taped off all the cabinets to get them ready for the paint gun. He ended up sealing just about every surface of that kitchen to make sure that the appliances and counter top didn't get any paint on them. Joe was pretty meticulous about the taping process, so while he did that, I got to cleaning a bunch of stuff and doing random jobs around the house.
Everything is sealed up and ready to go!

First thing the following morning, Joe got to work on the cabinets. In maybe 30 minutes, he had completed the job. Granted, there were a few spots that needed touch ups, but overall it was a pretty simple task once he got the hang of it. It ended up taking quite a while to get the doors painted, as we had to do one side and then wait for it to dry before moving to the other side. I will admit, I was pretty worried. I knew we couldn't go back once we started so it was nerve wracking at first.
We were so happy with the result even in this state. We knew we made the right choice.

On our third day of work, we were able to finish up the doors and any touch up's that were needed. Before I knew it, all the doors and hardware were back on. It's crazy how bright and clean it makes the room look with just a can of paint (or 3). The cabinets themselves were good quality but really dirty and not quite our style. I couldn't wait to get some new color on the walls after this!
The paint color on the walls in here now looks halfway decent. We still had to paint though because the walls were dirty and gross.

Not totally complete but we're getting there.

This was taken after Day 3 and you can see in the background that the baseboards, doors and half-wall cap have been painted as well.

I decided to just follow the blue color into the kitchen as well since it was opened to one big space. We could have picked another accent color but it just made more sense (and was easier) to follow the same color throughout the entire great room.
Enough rambling....

Once again, it's amazing what paint can do!
